It Was a Dark and Stormy Night, Part II

Larry Edwards leads session in "Write to Win!" series
sponsored by SD Book Awards.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Book editor, author and publishing consultant Larry Edwards presents his second session in the "Write to Win!" series of writing workshops sponsored by the San Diego Book Awards. Larry Edwards

"Like last time, we're going to cover a lot of ground at a fast pace, and it will be fun," said Edwards, a judge for the SDBA.

Titled "It Was a Dark and Stormy Night, Part II," the workshop will help participants improve the quality of their writing, whether for novel, memoir, or short story. This session will review Part I and go into greater depth on narrative voice, dramatic scenes, character development, word selection, sentence structure, and story arcs. Participants are encouraged to bring the first page of their novel, memoir, or short story to work on during the class.

Proceeds from the workshop help support the SDBA program and provide prize money to the winning authors.

About the SDBA
For more than twenty years, through its annual book awards event, the San Diego Book Awards has honored published books and unpublished manuscripts written by San Diego County residents. This year, the SDBA is holding workshops that focus on writing tips to maximize a writer's chances of becoming an awards finalist.

Edwards edits fiction and nonfiction books, and consults with authors regarding their publishing options under the imprint Wigeon Publishing. He is an award-winning investigative journalist, the author of two books as well as two published short stories, and a former newspaper and magazine editor. He teaches writing and publishing workshops, and is a judge for the San Diego Book Awards. Edwards is a finalist in the SDBA's unpublished memoir category for 2012 for Dare I Call It Murder? — A Memoir of Violent Loss, Grief and Clarity. The winner will be announced on June 9, 2012.
