Chet Cunningham published his first book in 1968. Since then, he has written and had published 308 works of fiction and 15 nonfiction books. He is a co-founder of the San Diego Writers Workshop and the San Diego Book Awards.

One of San Diego's most prolific authors, Cunningham has published four action-adventure novels as ebooks in recent months. These books are available online from Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
