Mountain Men
and the History
of the Fur Trade

Relive the Lewis & Clark Expedition and the life of a fur trapper through this educational and entertaining presentation.

Let your history class, museum or organization experience a memorable event, complete with props, stories and music of the period.

Larry "Friar" Edwards and Chuck "Strummer" Preble are both members of the Corps of Rediscovery, a group of dedicated living history re-enactors specializing in the time period 1740 to 1840.

Dressed in hand-sewn buckskins and playing fiddle, mandolin and guitar, Friar and Strummer recreate, instruct and educate your students or group on the importance of Lewis & Clark's Corps of Discovery and the Fur Trade Era. Through a blend of demonstrations, props, stories and music, they tell all about this fascinating period in our nation's history and leave your students with an event they won't soon forget.

Through hands-on demonstrations, you will learn about wilderness survival skills, how the fur trade operated, starting fire with flint and steel, trapping techniques, sign language, tomahawk throwing and much more. The music played by these educators has been thoroughly researched and adds a toe-tapping highlight to the event.

Over the years, Friar and Strummer have performed their living history presentation to dozens of public and student groups at historical encampments and gatherings. Their program is highly accurate, entertaining and educational for students and teachers alike.

It is one thing to read books, watch movies, or listen to tapes, but nothing is like seeing the actual thing.

Experience history like never before when it comes to life in your classroom.

Sit back and enjoy "realia" at its best!
